I bought the book entitled, Bill Doolin outlaw O.T. several years ago and found that there are many incorrect statements in the book. It clearly States that the father of Michael was Barton. The father of Michael was John and Ceaty Rowe Doolin. I have the will of John in which he names his children.

Michael's wife Mary was not of the Ruebettom & Cooksey families she was Mary Elizabeth Stephens. She did not die in 1850. She left Michael and after she had been gone a year he sued her for divorce. It became final in July 1855. I have these court records.Michael & Mary were married in Butler County Ky. in 1829. They came to Madison Co. Mo. to claim the farm that Mary had inherited from her parents, Jackey (John)
Bowman and Elizabeth (Taylor) Stephens. This line goes back to Peter Stephens who started Harper's Ferry in 1733, then sold it to Harper. I have been collecting records on these two families for several years and all are documented

Brian,
I have a feeling that John Doolin(husband to Ceaty Rowe) might be related to a Maurice Doolin, who was ordered to come to America in 1740 because of a crime commited in Ireland.
I haven't looked at the book but info is in the Journal of the House Of Commons of the Kingdom of Ireland,Volume 7 (1796) pg.56
I have a feeling that abuse and criminal acts was a vicious cycle in this certain family.
PLEASE do not mention this in any forum for my cousin will be very angry,for she does not easily share info. with others when it comes to
Genealogy,because she puts so much time and money into it. BUT she has copies of court Documents stating that Michael Doolin (son of John Doolin) beat and abused his wife.
It is of her Opinion and mine that Mary E. Stephens (wife of Michael) did not leave Michael;but rather was a victim of foul play.If she had left Michael she would have over time contacted her sister or children.she was never seen nor heard of again.

But this is only my opinion.

I guess one never gets it all organized, but I have started to work on my husband's line again (O'Shea and Dowling).To refresh your memory -- my mother-in-law, Anastasia Dowling (O'Shea) was born in Balleen Lower, Freshford, on February 22, 1900. Her father was Richard Dowling and mother was Anne Kelly.I believe her father was Richard Dowling Born February 7, 1872 -- father James Dowling and mother Catherine Holland -- although I am not sure of this.I recently found that Anastasia's family attended St. Bridget's Church in Lisdowney, Co. Kilkenny -- which is near Balleen Lower.I also know that her brother, Joseph Dowling, died January 17, 1888 and her sister Anne Dowling Campion died on December 22, 1965 -- I have the memorial cards for both of them.With this collection of miscellaneous facts, what is my next step? Brian, my ggf was Peter Henderson Dolan, b abt 1822 Ireland, emigrated April 1852 sailing out of Liverpool on "The Mary Pleasants" along with younger brother, John Dolan with Philadelphia, PA as destination. Peter married Mary Gilliam b Ireland abt 1827. They lived all their lives in the suburban Phila. area of Merion-Bala Cynwyd. Mary died in 1896 and Peter in 1898.
John Dolan lived in Mt. Carmel, PA. was a civil war veterand, 133rd PA Infantry Volunteers, was a coal miner and married Margaret Woods in Pittston Ferry (now Pittston, PA) in 1856. John died of black lung disease in 1892 and Margaret died in Philadelphia where she died in 1907.
